FÖRESTÄLLNINGAR
(The word FÖRESTÄLLNINGAR means in Swedish:
Performances, representations, presentations, notions,
imaginations, visualization, ideas, conceptions)
A collaboration between Gertrud Alfredsson and Anna Brag.
With drawing as the point of departure, we create spatial stories about various
everyday phenomena. Foucault's concept of "eventualization" means that
everyday reality is made visible by raising it to an "event" or a "performance".
Using the flexibility and simplicity of drawing, we create room for a number of
shows/performances as well as a book.
Gertrud Alfredsson and I have followed each other's artistry for the last 25 years.
Although we both have the drawing as a common starting point, our expressions
are very different. As we both are inspired by everyday life, we look forward to an
interesting cross-fertilization of our expressions and ways of thinking and
working. We have now embarked on a joint project, under the title
Föreställningar/Performances, where we have given ourselves the task of
exploring our perceptions of different phenomena. By breaking down, rebuild and
re-evaluate perceptions and interpretations of our time, the language and our
opportunities to shape our realities, our dreams and ourselves.
We will work with drawing in different formats; animated film, projections, on
paper and in book form. The project will develop as the process continues.
The simplicity and great flexibility of drawing can at the same time explore the room
as it can be scaled down to a book. The project will consist of a series of exhibitions, workshops and a book. It will be carried out progressively, chapter by chapter under the various headings. We imagine 5-7 Chapter / exhibitions / performances.
